At the March meeting Chris Williams and Russell Lindsay demonstrated how to turn hedging purple beech into a group planting.
The trees had been grown in separate pots for between one and four years.They were taken out of their individual pots, roots combed and laid out on the table in size order.
The best larger tree was chosen to be the lead tree and another planted as close as possible. Smaller trees were planted behind and at the sides to make one smaller and one larger group.
The roots were wired in and moss was planted in hummocks with a diagonal groove between the groups
